Privacy Policy for ChessRDV

Last updated: 4 May 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the ChessRDV mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles information in connection with your use of the App. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect Directly

ChessRDV does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information on its own servers. The App does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email, or location, and does not include analytics or tracking code operated by us.

All user progress, preferences, and opening repertoire data are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to us.

2. Information Collected by Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services provided by Google. These services may collect information as described in their own privacy policies:

2.1 Google Mobile Ads SDK

The free version of ChessRDV displays advertisements through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. The Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares the following data types automatically for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention purposes.

All of the user data collected by Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol.

2.2 Consent for Users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present a consent dialog the first time you launch it. The dialog complies with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.2) and lets you:

Your choice is stored locally on your device by the UMP SDK in the standard IAB TCF format (as a TC string and related preference entries). It is not transmitted to us or stored on any server we operate. All advertising SDKs integrated in the App read this stored consent signal and respect it when requesting ads.

You can change your consent at any time from within the App under Settings → Privacy options. Uninstalling the App or clearing its application data also removes the stored consent record; the dialog will then be shown again on next launch.

You can learn more about how Google uses advertising data here: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time from your Android device settings under Settings → Privacy → Ads.

2.3 Google Play Billing (Subscriptions)

ChessRDV offers an optional paid subscription that removes advertisements and unlocks additional features. Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details (credit card number, billing address, etc.). Google provides us only with an anonymous purchase token that the App uses to verify your subscription status on your device.

Google's handling of your payment information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service.

3. Permissions

The App requests network-related permissions required by Google Play Services, only to serve advertisements and to communicate with Google Play Billing. It also asks for permission to send a daily notification if reviews are due to practice. No other sensitive permissions are requested.

4. Children's Privacy

ChessRDV is suitable for general audiences and is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Advertisements served through AdMob are configured to comply with Google's families policies where required.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (in particular under the EU GDPR or the California CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data held about you. Since ChessRDV itself holds no personal data about you, such requests should be directed to the relevant third-party service (Google) which acts as the data controller for the data it collects.

You can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time from your Android device settings under Settings → Privacy → Ads.

6. Data Retention

Because we do not collect personal data ourselves, we have nothing to retain or delete on our side. Uninstalling the App will remove all locally stored data from your device.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or in applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document will indicate when the policy was most recently revised. Continued use of the App after changes have been posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
